We have strengthened our service offering in mainland Europe by implementing EU customs procedure Regime 42, giving our customers a more streamlined and cost-effective route through EU customs and VAT processes. This enhancement allows us to support importers more effectively, particularly in Belgium and France, as they navigate the complexities of moving goods from the UK into the EU.
“Regime 42 provides significant advantages for EU importers by simplifying the clearance of goods at key entry points from the UK, thereby enhancing import and transport operations,” explains Colin Robb, Head of Operations & Sales. “By helping our customers implement and coordinate this customs procedure within their businesses, they can significantly improve efficiency, reduce transit times and better manage cashflow.”
Regime 42 enables businesses to import goods into one EU member state and move them onwards to another without paying import VAT at the point of entry. Instead, import VAT is deferred and accounted for by the purchaser in the destination member state at a 0% VAT rate. This removes immediate financial burdens and supports a more streamlined, cost-effective import process.
“Because goods are cleared at the EU frontier, there are no delays caused by waiting for import VAT payments, ensuring consignments continue to their destination without disruption. This enhances customer satisfaction and overall operational efficiency,” adds Robb. “Regime 42 also eliminates the need for outdated procedures such as the T1, giving businesses greater control over their freight and reducing costs linked to trailer usage.”
We are proud to support our customers as they adapt to evolving customs requirements, and we look forward to further expanding our Regime 42 service offering across additional EU member states.
